Corporate HSE Principles
Leadership & Accountability
Executive management accepts overall responsibility for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance and provides the leadership, resources and oversight necessary for implementation of the Company's HSE Management System.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
Operations are conducted in accordance with applicable Nigerian legislation, NUPRC requirements, client specifications and internationally recognised management system principles including ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
Hazards are systematically identified before work begins. Risk assessments, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Toolbox Talks and Permit-to-Work systems are applied before high-risk activities.
Operational Control
Safe work procedures, isolation practices, lifting plans, confined space controls, working-at-height controls and contractor supervision are implemented throughout project execution.
Environmental Stewardship
Activities are planned to prevent pollution, minimise waste generation, protect biodiversity and ensure responsible management of air emissions, wastewater and hazardous materials.
Emergency Preparedness
Site-specific emergency response plans are maintained and regularly tested through drills covering fire, medical emergencies, spills, security incidents and evacuation.
Competence & Training
Personnel receive role-specific HSE induction, refresher training and competency assessments before undertaking safety-critical work.
Continual Improvement
Audits, inspections, incident investigations, near-miss reporting, management reviews and corrective actions drive continual improvement.
Roles & Responsibilities
| Managing Director | Overall accountability for HSE leadership, governance and resource allocation. |
| HSE Manager | Maintain the HSE Management System, conduct audits and monitor compliance. |
| Project Managers | Ensure HSE requirements are integrated into project planning and execution. |
| Supervisors | Conduct toolbox talks, verify controls and stop unsafe work. |
| Employees & Contractors | Follow procedures, wear PPE, report hazards and exercise Stop Work Authority. |
Applicable Standards & Regulatory Framework
- Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) requirements.
- Factories Act and other applicable occupational safety legislation.
- National Environmental Regulations where applicable.
- Client-specific HSE requirements and project specifications.
- Alignment with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management system principles.
Note: Formal certification should only be claimed if the company has actually obtained it.
Performance Measurement & Assurance
HSE performance is monitored through inspections, audits, incident investigations, near-miss reporting, corrective action tracking, training records, management reviews and lessons learned. Key performance indicators may include Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF), training completion, audit closure rates and environmental incidents.
